New regulations of critical importance to e-marketers

Law firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek led an insightful discussion of changes in CAN-SPAM regulations and issues in copyright and trademark for e-merchants.

One’s attitude toward learning the details of new regulations may divide the world into two kinds of people: those who are energized and those who are enervated by such a task.

Fortunately for the full house who attended September’s meeting of the E-Merchant Peer Group, two attorneys from Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. presented a thorough picture of new CAN-SPAM regulations and important copyright and trademark issues in an engaging, informative way that sparked critical discussion and collective learning among E-Merchant Peer Group participants.

Gina CarterGina Carter is a highly experienced, widely published, sought-after authority on intellectual property, e-commerce, international law and copyright. Gina gave a spirited presentation on copyright and trademark issues in e-commerce replete with fascinating cases from her own experience that helped members understand better the risks businesses must protect themselves against.

Deborah SpanicDeborah Spanic approaches legal issues with an unusual affinity for the perspectives of e-business professionals, as she used to be one herself. Before becoming an attorney, Deborah directed internet development for a Fortune 100 company. Her engaging presentation on changes in CAN-SPAM rules was more than one-to-many communication. As a subject-matter expert with real-world experience, Deborah led a very helpful discussion among members that addressed specific problems with actionable answers through peer collaboration.

As always, presentations, minutes and Mediasite recordings of the meeting are available to UWEBC members.
