Information Security & Infrastructure Peer Group MeetingSocial Networking Security July 28, 2010 · 09:00 AM - 02:30 PM Social networks have gone from a consumer curiosity to a critical marketing channel for companies serving both consumers and other businesses. "Just block them" no longer works as a social networking security strategy. Yet security professionals are still searching for the right mix of technical countermeasures, policy, and user training to reap the benefits of social media while avoiding most of the risk.
After a lightning review of current social media risks, we'll look in depth at key threats. Larry Boettger will share his experiences with identify theft and social engineering in the social media context, and he'll share tactics for reducing risks. We'll discuss how member companies are dealing with social media risks and what's been successful. Please join us for an opportunity to envision a road map to take social networking safety to the next level.
Lunch will be served. Business casual attire is recommended.
Presenter Larry Boettger is Director, InfoSec Security & Compliance Group, for adtec Services. He also lectures and writes frequently on information security topics.
